I have enjoyed the articles about Mr. George McShan retiring from HCISD and the many things he did for Harlingen Schools and their children.
I would like to add one more of his dreams for Harlingen and all children – the HOSTS Program. HOSTS means Help One Student to Succeed which was in the Harlingen School systems during the ’80s and the ’90s – I don’t know when it actually started.
I was a tutor in Long Elementary School for over 20 years and met Mr. McShan during our city wide oncea- year HOSTS Programs.
I expect I met him at Long during regular sessions with our children also.
I have always remembered Mr. George McShan — a man who lived his life loving and working for our childrens’ best education possible.
Thank you, sir, God Bless you and don’t forget the kiddies. I don’t.
