2 men arrested in Harlingen drug bust

HARLINGEN — The Harlingen SWAT team raided a house with two search warrants in hand Friday.

Two men were arrested and taken into custody at about 9:30 a.m. during the drug bust.

The search warrant was a result of an ongoing narcotics investigation at a local residence.

According to police, concerns from the community about drug dealing from the residence had been reported.

One arrested was identified as Esquiel Martinez who was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of abandoning and endangering a child.

Martinez was given a bond of $80,000.

The Harlingen police department’s organized crime unit, major crimes unit and the Harlingen SWAT team executed the bust on the 700 block of North T Street.

There were no injuries reported, and the community remains safe police said.

Police said the second male subject was released after further investigation.
