UTRGV graduation ceremonies this weekend

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will graduate more than 2,000 students this coming weekend during four commencement ceremonies to be held Friday and Saturday.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will graduate more than 2,000 students this coming weekend during four commencement ceremonies to be held Friday and Saturday.

The first commencement will be in Brownsville, at the UTRGV Brownsville Student Union Lawn. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m., Friday, May 11, for all colleges.

The weather forecast calls for sunny skies, but in case it rains the ceremony will be moved to the McAllen Convention Center. The time and day will remain the same. The winter commencement ceremonies were moved to McAllen because of storms.

Three other ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 12, at the McAllen Convention Center.

The first ceremony begins at 9 a.m. for:

  • College of Health Affairs
  • College of Education & P16 Integration

The second ceremony begins at 1 p.m. for:

  • College of Engineering & Computer Science
  • College of Sciences
  • Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship

The third and final ceremony begins at 5 p.m. for:

  • College of Fine Arts
  • College of Liberal Arts
