HPD recent investigations and arrests

On Friday April 27, Harlingen resident Martin Fernandez Morin, 23, was arrested for allegedly threatening several persons with a gun.

His bond was set at $593,000 bond for multiple charges.

Morin fled the scene on foot after he crashed an SUV into another vehicle after he apparently disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of S. 77 Sunshine Strip and Sam Houston Street.

Police later located Morin at a residence on the 1600 block of Murrah Street where he was placed under arrest.

ROBBERY

Harlingen police are on the lookout for a maroon reddish four-door passenger vehicle that allegedly backed up next the victim’s vehicle in the Marshall‘s parking lot on April 26 at about 3:16 p.m.

A male subject exited the suspect vehicle and pushed the victim (an 83-year-old female) out of the way, reached inside the victim’s vehicle and grabbed her purse and left the scene.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

The suspect is described as possibly a tall Hispanic male, in his 30s, medium complexion and wavy hair.

The suspect vehicle may have sustained damage to the driver’s side key-hole area of the vehicle.

FELONY ARREST

Sandra Lucia Mendoza-Perez was placed under arrest for attempting to pass a prohibited substance into the Harlingen correction facility.

On April 21, at 7:49 p.m. Mendoza-Perez came into the Harlingen city jail to drop off a blue jacket for a male who was incarcerated.

Police said the Harlingen PD jailer searched the jacket according to jail policy and procedures before giving the jacket to the incarcerated male.

During the search, the jailer located approximately 2.3 grams of marijuana in the front pocket of the jacket.

PERSON OF INTEREST

Police are still looking for a male subject who entered a Stripes Convenience store pointing a black handgun at the clerk and demanding money and cigarettes.

The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and a white bandana over his face. Police said the suspect exited the store with approximately $200 and fled the area in a passenger vehicle driven by a second unknown subject.

The robbery occurred on Saturday, April 21, at the Stripes located on 1313 Haverford Lane.
