San Benito CISD’s middle school students recently competed at the Middle School Orchestra Concert and Sight Reading University Interscholastic League competition and received a “superior rating” in Concert and an “excellent rating” in Sight Reading at the Harlingen Performing Arts Center.
The district combined orchestras from all three middle schools performing under the direction of instructors Karina Vela and Avigái González.
“Overall, the students did great. Coming from a fresh program and being their first time attending UIL, the outcome was excellent,” said González.
The winners are the following:
• Berta Cabaza Middle School – Amanda Alvarado, Andrea Teran, Lindsey Montemayor, Maria Santos, Cindy Gonzalez, Brennan Sanchez, Luzelena Juarez;
• Miller Jordan Middle School – Sergio Mendoza, Serena Treviño, Alfredo de la Fuente, Gabriella Montez, Serya Montez, Karyme Saenz, Kevin Villanueva, Marcela Valdes;
• San Benito Riverside Middle School – Yarellie Rodriguez, Israel Valdez, Melissa Gonzalez, Kathy Rojas, Christian Rodriguez, Salma Olvera, Lisbeth Rivera, Emily Lerma, Luis Arguello, Zuleika Machuca, and Pablo Trujillo.Treviño.
