Dozens take part in annual ruck walk in Harlingen

The 2nd Annual 22 Hour Ruck Walk for Veteran Suicide Prevention took place this weekend in Harlingen.

The men and women started and ended nearly 37 mile walk at the Marine Military Academy.

The Roadrunner Ruckers of South Texas organized the march as a way to raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention for active duty and veteran servicemen and women.

Many carried 22 pound backpacks to symbolize the burden many veterans carry when suffering from post traumatic stress. It is estimated that 22 veterans commit suicide every day in the United States.
