HCISD Chess teams advance to Nationals

Four Harlingen CISD chess teams have advanced to the national championships after impressive performances at the State Chess Tournament held at Edinburg North High School March 2-4.

Treasure Hills Elementary, Dishman Elementary, Coakley Middle School, and Harlingen High School South qualified for nationals.

The National Elementary Championship will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 11-13. The Middle School division is competing at their National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 6-8. The National High School Championship will be held in Columbus, Ohio, April 27-29.

K-3 Division

5th place – Treasure Hill Elementary – Qualified for Nationals

8th place – Wilson Elementary

11th Place – Bonham Elementary

13th Place – Houston Elementary

20th Place – Dishman Elementary

K-5 Division

3rd place – Dishman Elementary – Qualified for Nationals

5th place – Wilson Elementary

6th place – Houston Elementary

8th place – Treasure Hills Elementary

14th place – Bonham Elementary

23rd place – Long Elementary

Middle School Championship

2nd place – Coakley MS – Qualified for Nationals

10th place – Gutierrez MS

High School Championship

6th Place – Harlingen South – Qualified for Nationals

7th Place – Harlingen School of Health Professions
