The Cameron County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed home invasion that may be related to cartel activity in Matamoros.

The Cameron County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an armed home invasion that may be related to cartel activity in Matamoros.

Sheriff Omar Lucio said Monday that two armed men forced their way into a home at Dennis Ave. in Cameron Park and demanded that a 52-year-old man hand over drugs.

“The individual did not have drugs,” Lucio said, adding that investigators do not believe the victim has any connections to the drug trade.

The two suspects assaulted the man, who told them he didn’t have drugs, but he was not seriously injured, Lucio said.

Authorities are looking for Juan Manuel Llamas-Ringham, 27, who Lucio said is either a member of a cartel or was a member of a cartel at one time. Llamas-Rinham is believed to be in Matamoros.

Police are also looking for a man named Rafael, last name unknown, who is believed to be in his 20s and also may be in Matamoros.

“So, he’s a very young individual,” Lucio said.

This suspect is about 6-feet tall, 180 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. Both men were last seen leaving the house in a black Chevy Aveo.

Lucio believes the assault was an isolated incident.
