Wind advisory issued for Cameron, Willacy

HARLINGEN — A wind advisory has been issued for Cameron and Willacy counties until 5 p.m. today.

National Weather Service forecasters in Brownsville say heavy breezes today along the coast and inland will hit 25 to 35 mph with gusts topping out at 45 mph.

Forecasters warn that lightweight and unsecured objects will be easily blown around and possibly damaged and small tree damage may occur. Driving may become difficult, especially in high-profile vehicles on east-west roadways.

A small-craft advisory has been issued for the Laguna Madre until 7 p.m. today.

Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid navigating in these conditions.
