San Benito CISD conducts lockdown drill

SAN BENITO — San Benito High School conducted a safety drill today.

The rise of threats targeting school districts across the Valley have had parents, students and administrators on edge recently.

Since the threats, the district has been working to remind parents and community members of the different procedures they have in place and resources that are available to students in need.

In a message from the superintendent of schools, Nate Carman detailed the trainings and safety precautions already in place for the district.

While safety drills such as practice lockdowns and fire drills are a common practice among schools, district leaders are currently conducting a full review of safety practices and crisis plans.

In addition to the lockdown drill, Veterans Memorial Academy also conducted a fire drill.

Local law enforcement agencies were on the scene for both safety drills.
