Here she is! 5th Annual Ms. South Texas Senior American Pageant

HARLINGEN — All the pageant contestants walked out of the Harlingen Municipal auditorium a winner.

Each of them showed off their talents and beauty on center stage.

But, there could only be one contestant who would go on to take the crown at the 5th Annual South Texas Senior American Senior Pageant.

And, by the end of the pageant, that woman was Ms. Linda Mancillas, of Mercedes.

Mancillas was stunned with excitement as she heard her name called out as the winner.

Next, all the former winners greeted here with flowers and last year’s winner gave up the crown and passed it on to Mancillas.

She couldn’t hold back her tears as she walked the stage as the Senior South Texas winner donning her winning crown to the sound of music.

It was an afternoon of elegant gowns and shiny bling worn by the South Texas Senior American Pageant contestants.

Miss South Texas Senior Pageant has been going on for the last four years.

The pageant seeks to recognize the achievements of all senior women in their personal, family, educational, career and community lives.

All the women showed off their talent to a large audience.

Each of the 10 contestants were there showcasing and performing their talents for the opportunity to walk away with the shiny diamond tiara crown.

And all of the contestants did their best.

Pageant contestant Melody Serrano, of Combs, waved her hands in the air as she started her dance performance to the song entitled “Shackles.”

The pageant gives all the contestants a platform to demonstrate their dignity, maturity, talent, and inner beauty.

Pageant contestant Debora James, of Corpus Christi, did a rendition of the song “Back to God.”

Wearing her elegant red gown, James serenaded the audience. And she ended her song kneeling down saying a prayer to a large round of applause.

Mercedes resident Melinda Perez said she had a blast at the pageant.

“All the ladies were really upbeat,” Perez said.

She and her daughter were honored guests at the pageant.

“It was our first time here, and we will definitely be coming back next year,” Perez said.
