Refuge weighs cycling, geocaching pursuits

HARLINGEN — Bicycles could be back at Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge — and virtual geocaching could ride in with them.

Those two activities have been the most talked about among eight refuge uses which are being reviewed as being appropriate to start or to continue at the facility located near Alamo.

The refuge and its manager, Bryan Winton, are seeking public input on what are called Compatibility Determinations to gauge public interest in these activities as well as suitability.

Copies of the draft CDs are available at the refuge’s Visitor Center located at 3325 Green Jay Road, Alamo, TX, 78516, or online at: www.fws.gov/refuge/santa_ana/draftcds.html

Comments must be received by end of day today by dropping them off at the refuge or by emailing Refuge Manager Bryan Winton at [email protected]
