Sheriff: Brother shoots brother in Raymondville

RAYMONDVILLE — A family feud erupted in gunfire this morning, sending a man to the hospital.

Willacy County Sheriff Larry Spence declined to disclose the man’s name.

Spence said the man’s brother apparently shot him after the two exchanged gunfire at about 6:30 a.m. today in the family home off FM 186 west of Raymondville.

The man used a key to enter the home after his family filed a protective order to keep him out of the house, Spence said.

“He was going from room to room,” Spence said.

Spence said the man’s brother shot him twice.

“He claims he saw him raise a rifle barrel,” Spence said of the brother’s account of the shooting.

At about noon, the man was awaiting surgery at a hospital.

Spence was releasing no other information this morning as deputies continued investigating the case.
