Although classes will go on as scheduled today in the Los Fresnos School District, there are some road closures that may affect the commute of those who work or attend Los Fresnos schools.

The district is reporting the following road closures:

* FM 1847 (Paredes Line Road): The bridge over the railroad tracks just south of 511 is closed because of ice on the overpass overnight. As of 6 a.m., that section of FM 1847 remains closed but may open as early as daylight. Parents and staff should use one of two alternate routes if traveling from north Brownsville:

* U.S. 69E northbound to FM 511, although traffic may be heavy

* FM 3248 (Alton Gloor Boulevard) eastbound to FM 511, and then taking FM 511 northbound.

* U.S. 69E main lanes are closed from Brownsville to Harlingen, but the frontage roads are open. The Frontage Road area south of Merryman Road/Sports Park Boulevard that crosses the railroad tracks that is normally closed is open today.

There are no power outages on the campuses.

Classes will begin at the regular times. School administrators are aware of these road closures in the event that students and teachers may run a little late this morning.
