As of 10 a.m. the temperature in Brownsville was 46 degrees. At 8 a.m. the temperature was about 60 degrees.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said the temperatures will continue to drop throughout the day. The temperatures will be in the 40s this afternoon and in the 30s by 5 p.m.
The NWS has issued a freeze warning for the entire Valley.
The warning will be in effect from 6 p.m. today until 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Temperatures will hover between 28 to 32 degrees.
According to the NWS, subfreezing temperatures will threaten tender vegetation across the region. Protect outside pets and livestock by providing adequate shelter and a safe source of heat. Exposed pipes could freeze.
A freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
