SAN BENITO — A fundraiser will be held in honor of La Especial Bakery, Friday.
The 78-year-old bakery located on Robertson Street went up in flames over the weekend and sent the owner and a police officer to the hospital, both of whom have recovered.
Lunch plates will be sold Friday at the K.C. Hall in San Benito to help pay for the extensive damage caused by the fire.
A GoFundMe account was also set up on the bakery’s behalf and has raised more than $1,000.
Miguel Ornelas, son of the owner said he is waiting to receive estimates on the damage that was caused but hopes the bakery will be open soon.
