The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a wind advisory for coastal Cameron and Willacy Counties that will take effect at 3 a.m. Friday and remain in effect until 3 p.m. Friday afternoon.
The NWS reports a strong cold front that will pass through the Rio Grande Valley overnight will bring hazardous driving conditions to coastal Cameron and Willacy counties on Friday.
Strong northerly winds will develop behind the fast moving cold front from later tonight into Friday. They are expected taper off sometime Friday afternoon.
A wind advisory means that winds of 30 to 39 MPH are expected. The NWS reports winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Drivers are urged to use extra caution.
