Two Harlingen elementary schools were on lockdown this morning as police searched for a suspect accused of assaulting a man.
Harlingen Police say they were called to the 800 block of 7th Street at 5 a.m. and discovered the victim had been assaulted by two men.
One of the suspects was located quickly and arrested, but they say the second man fled the scene and headed towards Jefferson Elementary and Bowie Elementary.
Police say both schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown has since been lifted and the suspect is still on the run.
