Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar set to be luncheon speaker

HARLINGEN — Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Glenn Hegar will be the keynote speaker for the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce’s Public Affairs Luncheon at Casa de Amistad on Monday, Dec. 4.

The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. State Representatives Oscar Longoria and Eddie Lucio III will be guest speakers prior to Hegar’s keynote address.

Hegar was elected in November 2014 and serves as Texas’ treasurer, check writer, tax collector, procurement officer and revenue estimator.

He is a sixth-generation Texan who grew up farming land that has been in his family since the mid-1800s.

Before becoming Comptroller, Hegar served in the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate, and also served as chair of the Sunset Advisory Commission, which works to eliminate inefficiency in government agencies.

The luncheon is hosted by the City of Harlingen. Sponsors include: CARDONE Industries as the Title Sponsor, the Harlingen Economic Development Corporation as a Premier Sponsor and United Capital Financial Life Management as a Supporting Sponsor.
