NWS: Warm weather on schedule for Veterans Day weekend

That cold weather everyone has been waiting for won’t be sticking around.

Cameron County residents woke up to chilly weather Thursday morning that blew in Wednesday evening, but by Saturday afternoon it will be time to hang up the jacket.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Geoff Bogorad said temperatures will increase steadily through Friday.

“(Today) we’ll see temperatures move up into the mid-60s,” Bogorad said. “And rain chances are going to be around 50 to 60 percent.”

The cool weather and rain are the result of a cold front and an area of weak low pressure that formed around the front, combining together over the Gulf of Mexico.

“Those will move west into northeast Mexico and along the Rio Grande River, spreading rainfall into the area,” Bogorad said.
