The Catholic Diocese of Brownsville wants to help people tell their stories using all the tools on their smartphones.

The diocese will host a MoJo Challenge 2017: Mobile Journalism & Photography Workshop for the community from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, inside the classrooms across the street from the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, which is located at 1218 E. Jefferson St.

“We are empowering people to tell their stories, because if we don’t tell our stories who will, and there are so many joy-filled activities to cover in our communities and even in our families,” said Brenda Nettles Riojas, spokeswoman for the CDOB.

The one-day workshop will provide attendees with information on photography, storytelling, videotaping and editing, and it will all be done on smartphones. The sessions will be taught by members of the diocese’s Communications Department.

The last day to register early to attend the workshop is Monday, Nov. 13. The fee is $15, which includes a light breakfast and box lunch. The late registration fee after Nov. 13 is $25.

To register and for more information, contact the diocese’s Communications Department at (956) 784-5055.
