Rotary Clubs host golf events next two Saturdays

HARLINGEN — The summer steamy heat seems to be dissipating, so you can hit the links a little more comfortably. You won’t want to miss these opportunities.

It’s time for a pair of local Rotary Clubs to hold fundraising golf tournaments the next two weekends.

The Sunburst Rotary Club will hold its 18th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament this Saturday.

This 3-person scramble starts at 8 a.m. and costs $85 per golfer. That fee includes greens fees and carts, mulligans, beverages, water, snacks and lunch.

Prizes will be awarded for the top five teams as well as several hole prizes and door prizes awarded during lunch.

All proceeds from the event go to student scholarships.

Next Saturday, Sept. 23, the Friends of the Harlingen Rotary Club will hold their event.

The event is supported and maintained by the Rotary Club of Harlingen to raise money in support of the community.

Check in time is 8 a.m. with tee time at 9 a.m. at Tony Butler Golf Course.

The entry fee for the three-person scramble is $100 and includes breakfast, green feels, cart and lunch.

There will be awards for the top six teams.

The awards include Callaway X2 Hot drivers, Titleist cart bags, Puma Sound Chuck Bluetooth speaker and towel, Titleist Vokey wedge and Nike towel, Under Armour sunglasses and FootJoy backpack.

There will be hole awards for closest to the pin, straightest drive and longest drive.
