Port Lavaca getting help from Harlingen

HARLINGEN — Former Port Lavaca local seeks the community’s to help donate food, water or supplies so she can send to her hometown.

Kassie Schneider has organized a GoFund me account that has raised more than $300 and she is taking donations at the Rio Grande Valley Art Studio that she plans to deliver on Saturday.

“They were hit hard and the flooding is really bad,” Schneider said.

She is calling for the community to help the community of Port Lavaca where she has family and friends who have lost everything.

“A lot of the homes stood strong, but they have no electricity and there is a water boil in effect,” Schneider said.

She said people in Port Lavaca are out of jobs and out of resources.

“They have spent the last of their savings on hotel rooms,” Schneider said. “I know the residents of Port Lavaca will be greatly appreciated if you could help them out.
