San Benito schools debut a new logo

SAN BENITO — Things are changing for the San Benito school district.

They’ve got a new look.

By the start of the new school year, the community should expect to see this changing look on the website and everywhere else.

The purple and gold emblem displaying a greyhound in mid-race is no more.

San Benito CISD has a new logo.

It reiterates the Re-Imagine 2021 Five-Year Strategic Plan goal, to put together a solid image and brand, said Celia Longoria, the district communications director.

“Included in the year one plan is priority 5: SBCISD will evaluate, reshape and implement a cohesive image/brand,” Longoria stated.

“The district’s new logo, unanimously approved by trustees last week, is in alignment with the Re-Imagine 2021 Five-Year Strategic Plan for the area of communications/public relations.”

The new logo is simple, but it makes a statement.

In keeping with the school colors, the new logo simply states in big bold purple and gold letters “San Benito Schools.”

A torch with prominent flames sits between “San” and “Benito,” the sides of the torch fuse to make the “N” and “B,” connecting the word, the town and the district.

The torch is a strong symbol for scholars.

Researchers say it represents the ability of everyone to serve as a guiding light for others and the ability of education to serve as a beacon of light.

Since work on the strategic plan started last year, Longoria, along with her team and a committee, have dedicated their time to the rebranding of the district.

The work will only continue with the implementation of the new logo.

The rebranding campaign will include fliers, posters, email blasts, newspaper blasts, billboards, TV spots, vehicle wraps and public service announcements at local theaters.
