U.S. Border Patrol agents rescued five immigrants from a locked tractor trailer at the Falfurrias checkpoint last week.
The immigrants, all from Mexico and El Salvador, were hidden in a shipment of watermelons in the refrigerated trailer.
The driver, a Mexican national, was ordered to undergo a secondary inspection after a canine unit alerted agents.
The immigrants were hidden within boxes of the watermelons. All of them turned down offers of medical attention. The driver was arrested and the immigrants came were detained and will be deported.
