Authorities have released the name of a woman whose body was found Monday floating in a Brownsville resaca.
The woman is identified as Maria del Rosario Buitureida, 53, from Port Isabel.
Buitureida’s body was found Monday in a resaca next to the Waterside Apartments on 4200 Boca Chica Boulevard. Authorities say she was visiting a family member who lives in the apartment complex.
Assistant Fire Chief Cesar Pedraza said the fire department received a call at 10:28 a.m. about a possible body in the water. Pedraza said once the body was recovered it was turned over to the Brownsville Police Department for further investigation and identification.
Police spokesman J.J. Trevino said there are no signs of foul play and authorities are currently waiting for a preliminary autopsy report to determine cause of death.
