Hound Fighters: Senior Lady Hounds honored by teammates and coaches

Senior members of the Lady Hounds Softball Team were honored by their coaches and teammates after the conclusion of regular district play with last week’s 10-0 win against the Lady Cardinals. The team’s mantra, “Faith Fight Finish,” held true throughout the final game of the regular season. The Lady Hounds wrapped up a 12-2 season and the second place spot in District 32-6A play.

Surrounded by their teammates, the Class of 2017 honorees include, kneeling from left, Annie Nuñez, outfield; Diandra Padilla, pitcher and first base; Yvonne Salinas, outfield; Sally Mendoza, outfield; and Stephanie Contreras, outfield and second base.

“It’s not often that you get to coach a group of seniors that possess the intangibles like leadership, sportsmanship, work ethic, commitment, and pride,” explained heal softball coach Kristy Leal. “These kids have represented our program with dignity and class both on and off the field. I am incredibly proud of their accomplishments.”
