HARLINGEN — Mike and Kelly Ann Hernandez didn’t bring apples to TSTC teachers Wednesday, instead they arrived with a $100,000 check to bolster scholarship opportunity for Brownsville students in the pursuit of knowledge.
“Everything starts with education,” Hernandez said. “Without education we can’t have the trained workforce that we need in order to recruit the companies we need who provide high paying jobs.”
Hernandez’s donation will be applied to the TSTC’s Texans Success Scholarship.
It is an ongoing campaign to provide financial assistance to students pursing a certificate or associate degree from the college. The scholarship is used toward tuition or other expenses.
