Police charge man with Carlito’s Wine House burglary

HARLINGEN — Police have arrested a man they say broke into a popular downtown wine house in the middle of the night.

At 2:10 a.m. Monday an alarm was activated at Carlito’s Wine House on Jackson Street. When officers arrived they discovered the glass on the front door broken and evidence someone had entered the business.

Video surveillance footage captured a man, police later identified as Harlingen resident Francisco “Terco” Contreras Jr., 36, breaking the door and stealing property from the bar.

Police say he then left the building running northbound on “A” Street. Contreras was arrested Wednesday on an unrelated charge and later charged with burglary. His bond was set at $6,000.
