Police: Mother’s boyfriend took two children

San Benito police are continuing to search for two children who they believe were abducted by their mother’s boyfriend and are thought to be in danger.

Police say 11-year-old Alondra Sanchez Rosales and her brother, 15-year-old Brandon Rosales Sanchez were taken by 36-year-old Christian Osvaldo Lopez Hernandez. They were last seen Thursday, March 23.

San Benito Police Chief Michael Galvan explains why no Amber Alert was issued for the children.

“It didn’t meet the criteria of an Amber Alert. They have to be taken by force or under the threat of force. Since we were at the beginning stages of just an allegation. We really don’t know what we have,” Galvan said.

Lopez Hernandez is said to be driving a 1990’s model white two-door Cavalier with license plates TVF 367, although the plates are not registered to the car. The mother is identified as 41-year-old Juana Juarez Rosales.

Police say they are concerned for the children because of an ongoing criminal investigation.
