Cameras help Island officials monitor Spring Break

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — Fire Chief Doug Fowler stood in city hall monitoring many angles of the Island with video surveillance during Spring Break.

South Padre Island placed cameras in key areas throughout the city all linked to one feed so authorities could see what was happening during Spring Break.

“We felt like it was a great help during the period of Spring Break,” Fowler said. “I think it was a great tool.”

Fowler was in command of the Emergency Operations Center located on the second floor of city hall during Spring Break.
