During 2011, President Barack Obama’s Department of State suspended an Iraqi Refugee Program for 6 months because two Iraqi refugees living in Kentucky admitted to being al-Qaida members.

They were planning to kill U.S. troops in Iraq. There was no widespread outrage, protests or legal proceedings against this action.

During 2017, President Donald Trump signed an executive order placing an immigration ban for three months on refugees from seven countries having apparent ties to terrorism.

There was widespread outrage, protests and legal proceedings against this action.

Under the U.S. Constitution citizens have the right to legal and peaceful protests.
