Harlingen Spa employee charged with prostitution; cash, bank records seized

HARLINGEN — Police raided a local spa and charged a worker with prostitution.

Investigators seized $3,200 in cash, bank records, computers, cell phones and “sexually oriented paraphernalia” in the Friday raid.

The owner of VIP Spa on East Harrison Avenue also was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and operating the business without the proper license.

Police said the investigation has been in the works for some time and is still ongoing, adding that additional charges are possible.

“This isn’t a closed case. Our investigators are going to be looking at all the evidence, the bank files, everything, to see exactly what was going on and how long this has been going on,” Officer Larry Moore said yesterday.
