Big time skills: What you need to land that job

SAN BENITO — Soft skills are learned during early childhood.

By definition, soft skills enable you to interact effectively with other people in everyday situations.

The skills, according to Ashley Guzman, the project manager for the soft skills program at Cameron Workforce Solutions, communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution and other skills are taught during a person’s formative years. However, when entering the workplace, employers notice which employee fall behind.

“What really separates people once they are on the job are those soft skills,” Guzman said

“So, can you come in and work in a team? Can you lead a team? Are you a good listener?”
