Death threat against police leads to arrest

HARLINGEN — Police say a Harlingen man threatened to “execute” officers.

Because of recent attacks on officers, the Harlingen Police Department is taking such threats very seriously.

Anthony Guajardo, 18, is accused of posting a message on Facebook saying, “execute all cops.”

When detectives confirmed the posting, they decided to contact the District Attorney’s Office.

“Due to the recent deaths and violent attacks on police officers, detectives consulted with the Cameron County District Attorney’s Office,” police said in a statement.

Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Guajardo charging him with making a terroristic threat, a felony.

Guajardo also is accused of assaulting a convenience store clerk in a separate incident on Oct. 12.

Police say he posted the Facebook message on Friday. Late that night, Harlingen and Primera police found Guajardo at a home on Stuart Place Road in Primera.

He was arrested and was being held with his bail set at $65,000.
