A fire that severely damaged a home on Garza Road earlier this afternoon became much more after an investigation.
Fire and police personnel responded after 3 p.m. to the fire at a home in the 1400 block of Garza Road on the southwest side of the city. Instead of just a fire, it turned into a burglary and arson investigation.
Apparently two handguns were stolen from the home before one of the rooms was set on fire, according to Harlingen Police. Nobody was home at the time of the fire.
