Santa Rosa residents urged to boil water

SANTA ROSA — Residents have been advised to boil water used for drinking, cooking or other sensitive activities until further notice.

Residents and businesses throughout the small community have been without water all day today after the city water plant stopped working on Sunday.

The issue caught many residents by surprise as the water pressure disappeared in kitchen faucets and bathrooms.

The city’s repair crew was able to trace the problem with the plant to a failed pump, which leaked water, causing a short that generated an electrical short, affecting the plant’s electronic controls.

City officials expect that full water service will be restored within the next four hours.
