Woman killed in accident near Arroyo City

ARROYO CITY – A 63-year-old Lozano woman died this morning when she lost control of her pickup and struck a pole.

Police responded to the fatal accident near Arroyo City, Thursday morning at around 11 a.m. on FM 1847, south of Fernando East Road.

Department of Public Safety Lt. Johnny Hernandez said the woman lost control of her red Ford F-150 that was traveling northbound. He said she veered off the road, striking a utility pole and then rolled over into a canal.

There was no water in the canal, Hernandez said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

DPS has not released the name of the victim until her next of kin has been notified.
