Lyford students tour NYC, Ivy League schools

LYFORD — Students traveled to the Big Apple to get a taste of life outside the Valley and visit Ivy League schools.

The Lyford school district sponsored 10 students so they could visit prominent universities in and around New York City. The students toured Columbia, Princeton and Yale universities.

“It’s a great opportunity for our kids to get out and see what life is like in other places and what these universities offer,” said Kristin Brown, Lyford CISD curriculum and instruction director.

The college trip was coordinated by the Texas Graduate Center, a component of the Texas Valley Communities Foundation nonprofit that promotes higher education, based out of Mercedes.
