Juvenile arrested in local stabbing

HARLINGEN — Thanks to a tip from Harlingen Area Crime Stoppers, police say they have arrested a juvenile male in connection with the stabbing of a 20-year-old man at a neighborhood park.

The assault happened shortly before 9:30 p.m. last Monday at Arroyo Park at 1110 New Hampshire St.

Police found the victim conscious but suffering from multiple wounds to his back and shoulder area.

He was taken to the hospital by EMS.

Police will not release the name of the suspect because he is underage.

Police have an ongoing investigation into the incident and are looking into the whereabouts of the other people involved in the stabbing.

Police said the male suspects fled the area on foot before police arrived.

One of the suspects was reportedly wearing a red shirt. Another subject may have had gold-colored dentures or teeth.

Witnesses reported the victim had been involved in a fight with multiple male subjects in the middle of the street in front of the park.
