Harlingen police crime briefs

HARLINGEN — Police are looking for a man tHey say he failed to return a rental car.

On May 4, police were called to the Hertz Car Rental located at 3030 Airport Drive where employees said a man identified as George Osborne Merrill intentionally failed to return a 2015 Dodge Journey, as agreed on the rental contract.

According to the paperwork, Merrill originally agreed to return the vehicle March 28.

Police eventually found the car May 9 near the 3000 block of Arroyo Park Lane South.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Merrill who is wanted for theft.

Anyone with information on the location of Merrill is asked to call Harlingen Crime Stoppers at (956) 425-TIPS.

Police are also looking for a man they say broke into several cars in the U.S. Homes Subdivision area along Aragon and Arbor Street.

The unknown man entered several unlocked vehicles and stole several items.

Anyone who recognizes the man, or has any information about the burglaries, is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers.
