Young teens injured when car slams into tree

HARLINGEN — Two teens remain hospitalized after crashing a car into a tree.

Department of Public Safety Lt. Johnny Hernandez said the 14-year-old driver was speeding north on Palm Boulevard at 9:30 p.m. last night when he lost control of the vehicle, veered to the right, drove through a fence and then wrapped the car around a tree.

The driver and the 15-year-old passenger, who are both from Brownsville, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
