HARLINGEN — A new look both outside and inside will be greeting Denny’s customers.
The popular 24-hour chain restaurant at 4703 S. Expressway 77/83 has undergone a facelift and is serving up discount meals and prizes at its grand reopening Saturday.
“It’s more of a fresher look, more comfortable,” Joe Trujillo, director of operations for the restaurant, said yesterday. “Also it has more of a Harlingen history with pictures as well.
“We opened in 2009, and every seven years we do a remodeling,” he said.
Trujillo said the Denny’s has undergone new exterior work, and fresh landscaping. Trujillo said he also ripped up the carpeting inside, and replaced it with tile.
The eatery closed for two days, he said.
“We were open when we were doing the outside, the painting and landscaping, but once we got into the tile we shut down as we took the carpet out. It’s a lot easier to clean, and keeps it cleaner, and customers like it better.”
Trujillo also serves as director of operations for two other Denny’s owned by franchisee David Bramble, one in Weslaco and another in Edinburg.
“Today’s reopening is not only an exciting day for the residents of Harlingen, but for all of us at Denny’s,” Bramble said. “We’ve been a key part of this community for many years, and we couldn’t think of a better way to thank our friends and neighbors for their continued support than with a grand celebration.”
Saturday’s celebration will offer discounted meals like the breakfast Grand Slam, Super Bird and Country-Fried Steak Dinner from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Hundreds of prizes will be given out to customers, the company said.
