SAN BENITO — Franklin Delano Roosevelt did it.
John F. Kennedy also did it.
Barack Obama did it, too.
This week, San Benito teachers Ricardo Delgado and Marvelia Balboa will also be graduating from Harvard.
The two math teachers are part of a pioneer cohort of seven teachers from around the Valley who will take part in the 2016 graduating class commencement in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Steven Spielberg is scheduled to be their commencement speaker at the graduation.
“We are so proud of them and all their hard work,” said Henry Sanchez, principal at San Benito High. “We are very excited about Marvelia and Ricardo graduating from Harvard.”
Sanchez said having them as teachers at the high school has inspired students to reach for a college education at Harvard.
“The program opened my eyes for teaching,” Delgado said. “It allowed me to see teaching in a new way.”
