Driver dies when Jeep flips

BROWNSVILLE — Police on yesterday continued to investigate a one-vehicle accident that left a 25-year-old woman dead this weekend.

Police said April Lynn Munivez, of Brownsville, apparently lost control of the vehicle she was driving — a Jeep Liberty — which caused it to roll over.

The accident happened at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the 1400 block of West Price Road in Brownsville.

Authorities said they are not sure what caused Munivez to lose control of her vehicle, but officials are looking into the speed the Jeep Liberty was traveling and the weather conditions.

“It had just rained so the road was wet,” police spokesman J.J. Trevino said.

According to police, Munivez’s vehicle first wrecked into a curb and then ended up hitting a palm tree.

Munivez was pronounced dead at the scene by Cameron County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Linda Salazar.
