HARLINGEN — City Commissioner Tudor Uhlhorn has amassed $7,000 in political contributions while challenger Frank Puente has none.
Uhlhorn, who is seeking his second term as District 2’s commissioner, took out a $1,500 loan while listing $8,983.28 in expenditures during the period from Jan. 13 to March 28, according to his campaign finance report filed at City Hall.
Puente, a former city commissioner whom Uhlhorn defeated in 2013, listed no expenditures for the period from Feb. 2 to April 7. Instead, he used campaign signs from his previous campaigns, said Puente, who served as a commissioner from 2003 to 2006.
Most of Uhlhorn’s contributions came from Harlingen, with some from San Benito, Combes, Houston, Dallas and Chesterfield, Mo. Contributions of $500 included donations from Frank Boggus, Anne and Robert Shepard, Joe Elliff, William and Merrillee Elliff, Norbert and Ruthie Ewers, Michael and Elizabeth Scaief, Robert Duncan, Martha Uhlhorn, Julie Allen and Pat Kornegay.
Jack Davis donated $350, while contributions of $250 came from Robert Duncan and Albert Wolf III.
Contributions of $200 were from Connie De La Garza, Kathleen Lonon and Henry and Kelly Roberts.
John and Joanne Guevara donated $150 while contributions of $100 were from Jonathan and Elena Meade, Dennis and Lorraine Woolam and J.G. and Norma Leal.
Uhlhorn’s expenditures included $6,596.03 to Meade Marketing; $811.88 to M5 Designs; $119.66 to McCoy’s Building Supply; $72.86 to Harland Clarke; $176 to Jackson Square Events Center; $98.44 to H-E-B; $39.96 to Henry’s Party Supply & Food Service; $34.35 to Johnny’s True Value Hardware; $29.21 to Office Depot-Office Max; and $88.20 to U.S. Postal Service.
