Details lacking in shooting involving Edinburg police

There was an officer-involved shooting in Edinburg on Monday in which the suspect involved has died, according to an anonymous source with knowledge of the incident.

There is no information being released on where or when the shooting happened.

Ashly Custer, spokesperson for the city of Edinburg, said Monday that police are expected to release more information Tuesday morning.

The source said Edinburg police responded to a domestic violence call where a man was choking a woman. The man attacked the officer, who fired his duty weapon during the struggle, according to the source.

The officer is OK, the source says.

Information on the identity of the suspect, or additional circumstances surrounding the incident and suspect’s death, also remain unknown as of press time Monday.
