Puddle of Mudd to headline 11-band rock show Sunday in Hidalgo

BY J. EDWARD MORENO

Puddle of Mudd, an alternative rock band best known for their 2001 songs “Blurry” and “She Hates Me,” are playing a show at State Farm Arena on Sunday, as a part of their Resurrection Tour.

The rock band emerged in the early 1990s and is headlining with Saliva, Soil, Tantric and Shallow Side.

Though the band hasn’t released new music since 2011, they’ve been touring across the country and internationally almost constantly, said Dave Moreno, drummer for Puddle of Mudd, who joined the band in 2014.

“We’ve never stopped,” he said.

Though it’s been seven years since the band has officially released anything new, they’re constantly brainstorming amongst themselves, Moreno said. The band has a new record in the works; it’s expected to be released in early 2019.

“It’s like a combinations form al the previous records,” Moreno said. “I think the previous fans will be very happy with it.”

Moreno grew up in Los Angeles, but has family ties in McAllen. His relatives own Starlite Burger on 23rd street.

“McAllen is like my second home,” he said. “I’m excited to be back.”
