PSJA Memorial football head coach Brown reassigned after two seasons

PSJA Memorial head football coach and athletic coordinator David Brown II announced he has been reassigned from his position Friday, bringing an end to his two years at the head of the Wolverines’ football program.

Brown took time to announce his reassignment on Twitter Friday morning.

Hopefully over the past two years here I have positively impacted enough people to inspire them to do the same to others,” Brown wrote.

In his two years as head coach at PSJA Memorial, the Wolverines compiled an 0-14 record.

In the three years before Brown took over, the Wolverines went 4-6, 3-7 and 0-10 during the 2016-17 season.

Prior to becoming the head coach and athletic coordinator of the PSJA Memorial program in Dec. 2018, Brown served as a defensive coordinator with the Raymondville Bearkats. That year with Brown directing the defense, Raymondville went 9-2 overall and won the District 16-4A DII championship.

Before his stops at Raymondville and PSJA Memorial, Brown was a defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for Texas A&M-Kingsville for three years, and a safeties coach at Fresno State in 2013 and Wyoming in 2014.

PSJA Memorial’s football head coach and athletic coordinator position is now open, which makes five football head coaching openings across the Rio Grande Valley joining Brownsville Veterans, Edinburg Economedes, Edinburg High and Lyford.
