Two people have been detained regarding a threat made involving Rio Grande City High School on Wednesday, officials said.

They were detained as of 9:15 a.m. and a weapon was found, although their identities have not been revealed as of 10:48 a.m.

The school remains under lockdown for now but a Rio Grande City-Grulla ISD official said “all of our students are safe, our staff are safe,” adding the lockdown is in place “just to make sure everything is safe.”

“Thank God there was no injuries, no shots fired,” the official said, adding there was a car accident in the area that was not associated with the threat or the detainments.
